Brenda Elliott
(719) 237-3499
Brenda@co-hv.org

Brenda is a mom of four children, two of whom are hard-of-hearing (bilateral, moderate, high-frequency, sensorineural) and use hearing aids. Jay, her oldest, is a grad student studying Organ Performance at Jacobs School of Music, IU-Bloomington.  Justin, her youngest is in middle school and enjoys wrestling, Ultimate Frisbee, reading, and playing video games (perhaps a bit too much), sports, music, swimming and acting/performing in school talent shows and programs. Brenda has a background in Information Technology, spending the first fifteen years of her career as a computer operator, software developer and project manager. In October of 2001, she began teaching early childhood music to young children and families, excited to both share music and spend more time with her growing family.

Sara is a mom of four children, including a teen daughter who is profoundly deaf. She is an occupational therapist by training. She has served on staff at Colorado Families for Hands & Voices since 2000 and now serves as the chapter director. She is also an editor for the quarterly newspaper, The Communicator. Sara has a special interest in advocating for hearing screening in the homebirth community. She was a coauthor for the handbook Bridge to Preschool: Navigating a Successful Transition as well as articles on promoting self advocacy, genetics, progressive hearing loss, and the decision process regarding cochlear implants.

She finds parenting teenagers to be an even bigger challenge.
A favorite quote is:

“Of magic doors there is this: you do not see them even as you are passing through.”
– C.S. Lewis
