You are here: Home / Roadmap For Families / Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

If your baby was born in the hospital, your baby should have been screened for hearing loss. You should have received a hard copy ‘roadmap’ or something similar to let you know whether your baby was screened or not, and the results. If you are not sure, read on….

If you were not given the results of your baby’s hearing screening in the hospital, and/or you are not sure if your baby was screened, contact your hospital and ask whether your child was screened or not. Make sure you get the results of the screen in writing and talk to someone who can explain the results to you.

Want more answers to these questions?

Go to www.babyhearing.org for more information.

If your baby was born at home, here is some additional information
that may be of assistance to you:

Letter from Mom who had a homebirth

Letter from Midwife about the importance of Newborn Hearing Screening

If you need to set up a hearing screening, you can contact one of these people in your area,   Parents can look up audiology clinics and other professionals who can provide hearing screenings at www.ehdipals.org, a voluntary listing of sites.

If you are still not sure who to call, contact Leanne Glenn, Colorado Department of Health, 303-692-2603 or leanne.glenn@state.co.us.  We are also ready to help you at 720-598-2648 (COHV).

Find your hospital’s specific roadmap here if available.
